From Me to You: Why I Built Blatant
Blatant isn’t just a name I picked out of thin air—it’s a concept that’s been living in my mind for years. Three, to be exact. The domain sat quietly in my back pocket while I worked with a variety of freelance clients, listening to their challenges and figuring out how to make the messy world of eCommerce just a little easier to navigate.
It wasn’t a rush job, and it wasn’t an accident. Blatant grew slowly in the background, shaped by the conversations I’ve had and the solutions I’ve created. It’s a reflection of what I’ve seen firsthand: the struggles of trying to juggle everything while keeping your hands on the parts of your business that matter most.
This isn’t my first rodeo in running a business either. I used to own a cleaning company and, trust me, I know exactly what it feels like to be in the thick of it. Balancing everything, trying to scale, and still staying connected to the day-to-day heartbeat of your business. It’s exhilarating. It’s exhausting. It’s worth it.
But here’s the thing: the rewarding part? The moment you see your products in the wild, hear your business name in a conversation, or feel that rush when an idea becomes something tangible—it doesn’t just happen. It takes courage. Immense courage. The kind that feels daunting at first but transforms into momentum once you take the leap.
For Anyone Out There Reading This
If you’re building something, whether it’s an idea on paper or a business already in motion, I’ve been where you are. It’s tough, but it’s not impossible. So, here are 10 things I’ve learned along the way:
- You can do it.
Simple, but true. - You don’t have to do it alone.
Asking for help isn’t a weakness—it’s a strategy. - Being scared is a silly reason not to do something.
The fear doesn’t go away, but the regrets will stack up. - There’s never going to be a right time.
So start now, even if it’s messy. - All will be fine in the end. If all is not fine, then it is not the end.
(Thanks for that one, Oscar Wilde.) - Profit without purpose is a recipe for disaster.
Your "why" matters just as much as your "how." - To f**k around is human. To find out is divine.
Experiment. Tinker. Try something bold. - Nothing changes if nothing changes.
Progress takes action—big or small. - If you think good design is expensive, you should look at the cost of bad design.
(Spoiler: it’s painful.) - Let’s make it Blatant.
Whatever you’re building, make it undeniable.
Blatant is here because I’ve been in the trenches, and I know how hard it can be to pull everything together. My goal is to make things simpler for you, to help you focus on the parts of your business that bring you joy, and to create solutions that actually work.
Let’s make your ideas tangible, your tools simple, and your brand unforgettable. Let’s make it Blatant.
